Walter Koziar

Included are Walter Koziar's Marine Corps WWII 1943 Dress Blues Coat, Cover, Belt & Hardcover Biography (including his digitized Official Military Personnel File).

Walter was in Company "K", 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, 4th Marine Division. He fought on Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.

Walter was a Rifleman in Company "K" starting as a Private and being promoted to a Sergeant machine gun squad leader just before Iwo Jima.

Walter was KIA while leading his men to take out a Japanese Iwo Jima beach pillbox during the first day’s second landing wave on February 19, 1945.

For this action, Walter was posthumously awarded a Bronze Star.
